General surgical literature details a number of studies that identify the major risk factors for surgical morbidity in general surgery. However, little assistance is available for gynaecological surgeons to predict surgical complications in gynaecological surgery. Professor Andreas Obermair, Professor Monika Janda and Professor Val Gebski have developed this White Paper to assist with identifying the risks of surgical complications associated with hysterectomy. This White Paper helps to address a major problem for gynaecological surgeons in relying on their ability for recollection to identify clinical constellations associated with a high risk of poor surgical outcomes.
